Wii Pushes Nintendo Profit Up 60 Pct

Nintendo has announced financial results for its fiscal year ending March 31, 2008: sales of its Wii video game console pushed the company’s profits up 60 percent compared to the same quarter last year, but slowing sales of its Nintendo DS handheld systems are leading the company to forecast only a reserved nine percent growth for its next fiscal year.

The countries of the European Union are in disarray. Not politically, but in the way they rate games. According to a new survey showing how Pan European Game Information (Pegi) is used across the continent, only two countries – Germany and Lithuania – have laws about the way games are sold. 15 others ban harmful games being sold to minors, one has broader laws, and four – Cyprus, Romania, Slovenia and Luxembourg – actually have no laws restricting game sales.
Pegi rates games by describing their content and also giving information about violence, bad language, drug use and sexual content. The survey has left the European Commission sugges

Sony Again Delays PS3 Home Online Community (NewsFactor)
NewsFactor – The launch of Sony’s Home 3D online community for the PlayStation 3 is being delayed again, this time until autumn. Last year, Home was also pushed back, with a now-postponed launch set for early in 2008. As with last year’s delay, Sony executives said the reason is to improve the quality of service.
